Youth Ballet  &  Tap

Discover Ballet

30 min in-person class

Prerequisites: Dancers must be 3+ years of age and be fully potty trained

Description: In this class our youngest movers learn about class structure, spatial awareness and fine tune motor skills needed for ballet. 

Time and Day: Mondays 5:10pm - 5:40pm

Fall Session Dates: August 10th - December 7th

Ballet & Tap Basics

50 min in-person class

 

Prerequisites: Dancers must be 6 years of age and up 

 

Description: In this class we begin to explore the basic principles of movement used in ballet and fine tune musicality by exploring the basics of tap. Recommend for dancers already used to a structured class setting.   

 

Time and Day: Mondays  4:15pm - 5:05pm 

Dates: August 10th - December 7th

No class on the following dates:

September 7th & 28th, October 12th or November 23rd

14-Week Course 

Ballet Foundations

50min in-person class

Prerequisites: Teacher approval required, students must have 2 years minimum of Ballet Basics or be a minimum of 10 years old. Please email Miss Heidi if you have any questions. 

Required class equipment: Students will need a yoga block and strap for class.

Description: The emphasis in this class is building a wider ballet vocabulary plus an introduction to understanding alignment and basic anatomy. 

Time and Day: Mondays 5:45pm - 6:35pm

Ballet Technique

60min in-person class

Prerequisites: Teacher approval required, students must have 2 years minimum of Ballet Foundations or be 14 years old

Description: Continuing to expand ballet vocabulary, understanding of anatomy and alignment. Plus adopting strengthening and conditioning exercises to help progress technique.

 

Required class equipment: 2 yoga blocks, 1 yoga strap & 1 mini stability ball 

Time and Day: Mondays 7:35pm - 8:35pm

Fall Session Dates: August 10th - December 7th

September 7th & 28th, October 12th or November 23rd

14-Week Course

Tap Foundations

50min in-person class

 

Prerequisites: Teacher approval required, students must have 2 years minimum of Tap Basics or be 10 years old; students will need tap shoes for class.

 

Description: The emphasis in this class is building a wider tap vocabulary plus an introduction to syncopation and agility in tap dancing.

 

Time and Day: Mondays 6:45pm - 7:35pm

Class Attire
What to wear to Class?

Ballet

  • Leotard of choice

  • Ballet Pink or "nude" footed tights with matching leather ballet slippers 

  • Attached skirts are preferred but please no additional accessories, they can cause distractions or a plain black tee worn with black leggings or thick dance tights with black leather ballet slippers

Ballet Shoes

  • Can be split sole or full sole, leather is best for youth dancers.

  • Must have a sewn in elastic band. No satin slippers please and thank you. 

Hair

  • Hair is to be away from the face and off the neck in order for the instructor to observe proper alignment.

  • Must be secured into a bun, braid(s) or twist(s). No headbands or hair clips please and thank you.

Equipment for Ballet Foundations and Ballet Technique​  yoga block & strap

Tap

  • Clothing that students can easily move in.

  • A tee and leggings in recommended but any athletic wear is welcomed. It is important that  the instructor can observe the knee and ankle joints clearly. 

Tap Shoes

  • Oxford aka lace up shoes are recommended to protect the dancer’s feet.

  • Should be full soled. Please avoid shoes with the words flex or split sole in the description. 

Jewelry

  • Please refrain from wearing jewelry.

  • Only small stud earrings are permitted in order to avoid any accidents.
